Scripture:
“Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!”
— Psalm 27:14 (ESV)
Reflection:
Waiting is often the hardest command. Yet it is in waiting that strength is formed and trust deepens. The psalmist doesn’t call for passive resignation, but for courageous anticipation. The strength to endure comes not from ourselves, but from anchoring our hearts in the faithful character of God. Whatever you’re waiting on—direction, provision, healing—wait with expectation. God is never late, and His timing always serves His purposes for your good and His glory. Let this morning be marked not by anxiety, but by confident stillness in Him.
Prayer:
Father, help me to wait on You today with courage and strength. Still my heart and increase my faith as I trust in Your perfect timing. Amen.
Greek Word:
ἀναμένω (anamenō) — to wait for, to expect patiently
Used to describe an active, hopeful waiting, especially for the return of Christ and fulfillment of God’s promises.
Hebrew Word:
קוָּה (qavah) — to wait, to hope, to look eagerly
A word rich with hope-filled expectation, often used in the Psalms to express trust in the Lord’s deliverance and timing.
