Hebrews 13:8 (ESV) – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
The Anchor That Holds
The winds of life shift constantly. Responsibilities press in, trials arise, and even the most carefully laid plans can unravel in an instant. Yet in the midst of uncertainty, one truth stands firm: Jesus Christ remains unchanging. When everything else falters; our strength, our wisdom, our ability to carry the weight of daily life; He does not.
There is something profoundly reassuring about this. The same Christ who upheld His people through the ages is the same Christ who upholds you now. He is not swayed by cultural shifts, personal failures, or the weight of expectation. He sustains you in your calling, your marriage, and your role as a parent; not because you are always strong, but because He is always faithful.
A Daily Need for Remembrance
Yet, even knowing this, the temptation to doubt can creep in. Life’s hardships whisper the lie that God has changed; that perhaps His patience has worn thin, that His promises have an expiration date, or that He is no longer as present as He once was. This is why we must preach the gospel to ourselves daily.
Every morning, we must remind ourselves: Christ is still King. His grace is still sufficient. His promises are still true. Just as Israel was called to remember the mighty works of God, so we too must actively call to mind who He is and what He has done. Not once has He failed His people, and He will not start now.
A Foundation That Will Not Crumble
To build our lives on anything else, our own strength, the world’s shifting values, or even well-intended human wisdom; is to stand on sinking sand. But to build upon Christ means standing on a foundation that is unmoving and unwavering. No trial, no cultural tide, no opposition can shake what is grounded in Him.
The world tells us to adapt, to evolve, to loosen our grip on biblical truth. But if Christ does not change, neither should our commitment to Him. His Word is not outdated. His ways are not obsolete. His gospel is not in need of revision. What was true yesterday remains true today and will remain true forever.
Closing Reflection
Tonight, as you reflect on your day, take comfort in this: Christ has not changed His mind about you. His love is not diminished by your struggles. His grace is not weakened by your missteps. His call on your life is not rescinded because of your inadequacies. He is the same Savior who first called you, and He will sustain you until the very end.
Rest in Him, for He is faithful.
Questions for Reflection
• What specific moments today revealed Christ’s unchanging nature in your life?
• How can you cultivate a daily habit of reminding yourself of the gospel?
• In what areas of your life do you need to stand firm, knowing that Christ’s truth does not shift?
Let this be your confidence: the Rock upon which you stand will never be shaken.
