Scripture:
“The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.”
— Nahum 1:7 (ESV)
Reflection:
As the day progresses and burdens may begin to weigh on your spirit, remember this powerful truth: the Lord is good. His goodness is not circumstantial—it is foundational. He is a refuge, a fortress for the weary, and He knows those who trust in Him. That “knowing” isn’t mere awareness; it’s intimate, protective, and personal. When chaos rises or trouble looms, run to the stronghold of His presence. Let His goodness be your anchor and your safety.
Prayer:
Lord, You are my refuge and strength. When trouble comes, remind me to take shelter in You. Thank You for knowing me and holding me fast in Your perfect goodness. Amen.
Greek Word:
καταφυγή (kataphygē) — refuge, place of safety
Used in the Septuagint and early Christian writings to describe God as a shelter in times of danger or distress.
Hebrew Word:
מָעוֹז (ma‘oz) — stronghold, fortress, refuge
Found in Nahum 1:7, this word expresses the strength and security found in God during the storms of life.
