“In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8
As the day draws to a close, our minds can easily become overwhelmed with the burdens we carried. Unfinished tasks, unspoken words, lingering worries—these things weigh on our hearts. Yet, David, surrounded by enemies and uncertainty, found rest in the unwavering security of God.
True rest is not found in a quiet room or an accomplished to-do list but in the presence of our faithful Lord. When we entrust ourselves to Him, we sleep not as those grasping for control, but as children in the arms of a sovereign Father.
Reflection: What anxieties do you need to release to God tonight?
Prayer: Lord, You are my refuge and my peace. As I lay down to sleep, I surrender my worries to You. Quiet my heart with Your presence, and let me rest securely in Your unfailing love. Amen.
