Scripture:
“Let the morning bring me word of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”
— Psalm 143:8 (ESV)
Reflection:
Every morning brings a new opportunity to be reminded of God’s covenant love. The psalmist doesn’t ask merely for direction, but for word of God’s steadfast love—ḥesed, the loyal love that does not fail. Trust in God is not passive; it lifts the soul, looks to Him, and leans into His leading. As this day begins, offer Him your trust anew. Ask Him to make His way plain and clear, and rest in the assurance that He walks ahead of you.
Prayer:
Father, let Your steadfast love awaken my soul this morning. Lead me in the way I should go. I trust in You—guide me, strengthen me, and draw me near. Amen.
Greek Word:
ὁδός (hodos) — way, path, journey
Often used metaphorically in the New Testament to refer to the Christian way of life or the path of salvation.
Hebrew Word:
חֶסֶד (chesed) — steadfast love, covenant mercy
A central attribute of God’s nature—His loyal, covenant-bound love that remains faithful even when we are unfaithful.
