Palm Sunday Devotion – April 13, 2025
Scripture:
“And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!’”
— Matthew 21:9 (ESV)
Reflection:
Palm Sunday marks the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem—a moment when the crowd’s praise filled the air. With palm branches waving and shouts of “Hosanna,” the people celebrated the arrival of their King. But Jesus’ kingship was unlike any other. He entered not on a warhorse, but on a humble donkey. This is the King who came not to conquer earthly kingdoms but to save sinners. Today, reflect on His humility and majesty. Let the cry of your heart be one of adoration and submission, acknowledging that Jesus is the King of kings who comes in the name of the Lord.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, on this Palm Sunday, I praise You as my King. Help me to worship You not just with words, but with a heart fully surrendered. Let my life reflect Your humility and Your love. Amen.
Greek Word:
ὡσαννά (hōsanna) — Hosanna, save now
A cry of praise and petition, this word reflects both joyful worship and a plea for salvation.
Hebrew Word:
מָשִׁיחַ (mashiach) — Messiah, Anointed One
Used throughout the Old Testament to describe the promised deliverer—fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
