The reason God loves addicts is because every addict is a worshipper. Every addict is
someone who has bowed their head to something quickly and easily. The fact that you got
addicted proves that you are hard-wired for worship. Your very soul yearns to be captivated by
something greater, something all-consuming.
Think about it: Your addiction demanded all your attention, it consumed your thoughts, your
time, your energy. But what if that same passion, that same intensity, was redirected towards
God? What if, instead of the bottle or the fix, you ran with all your might towards His Spirit?
Imagine the power in that transformation! (Romans 12:2: “And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”)
God loves addicts because He sees the potential within them. He knows that if He could switch
your addiction to Him, He would have one of the most devoted worshippers imaginable. If He
could have you praise and worship with the same tenacity that you had for a fix, if He could have
you seek Him with the same desperation, He would have a worshipper who could move
mountains. (Psalm 42:1: “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after
thee, O God.”)
Picture this: An addict, once enslaved by their vice, now free and fully devoted to God. Such a
person would be a beacon of hope, a force of spiritual strength. Hell would fear that addict,
because they would be unstoppable in their faith, relentless in their devotion, and powerful in
their testimony. (Revelation 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the
word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”)
God sees beyond the addiction. He sees a heart that is capable of immense passion and devotion.
He knows that this same heart, once turned towards Him, would be a formidable force for good.
It’s not just about overcoming addiction; it’s about transforming that addiction into a fiery,
passionate, unstoppable force of worship and love for God. (Ezekiel 36:26: “A new heart also
will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of
your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.”)
Imagine the possibilities! You, who once gave everything for a fleeting high, now giving
everything for the eternal glory of God. You, whose life was once marked by chains, now
breaking those chains and lifting others up. You, who once felt lost and hopeless, now shining
brightly with the light of God’s love and power. (2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if any man be in
Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”)
This is why God loves addicts. He sees not just the struggle, but the incredible potential for
transformation and greatness. He knows that with His guidance, you can turn your addiction into
a powerful testimony of His love, grace, and strength. And in doing so, you become a warrior of
faith, a beacon of hope, and a testament to the incredible power of God’s redemptive love.
(Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
