Holy Week Devotion – Monday Morning (April 14, 2025, 5:00 AM)
Scripture:
“On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves… And he said to it, ‘May no one ever eat fruit from you again.’”
— Mark 11:12–14 (ESV)
Reflection:
The Monday of Holy Week brings us to a striking moment: Jesus curses the fig tree. It’s not just about the tree—it’s a living parable. The fig tree had the appearance of life, but bore no fruit. It was leafy, but empty. This act was a direct message to Israel—and to us. God desires more than appearances; He seeks spiritual fruit.
As we begin this new week, especially in the shadow of the cross, let this serve as a moment of self-examination. Are we bearing fruit in keeping with repentance? Do our lives reflect intimacy with Christ, or just familiarity with His name? The Savior who came to cleanse the temple also comes to purify our hearts.
Prayer:
Lord, search me today. Strip away empty habits and surface-level faith. Teach me to bear fruit that reflects Your Spirit, rooted in a life surrendered to You. Let my worship be real, and my walk authentic. Amen.
