I asked God to take my habit away. He said no, it is for you to give up. He handed me the strength to face it (Philippians 4:13), the wisdom to recognize it (James 1:5), and the courage to let it go (Joshua 1:9).
I asked God to grant me patience. He said no, patience comes from enduring tribulation; it can’t be granted, it must be earned. Each challenge, each trial, He whispered, builds the fortitude within you to persevere (Romans 5:3-4).
I asked God to give me happiness. He said no, I shower you with blessings every day (Psalm 68:19), but happiness is a choice you make. It springs from within, nurtured by gratitude and a heart that seeks joy in the simple, the mundane, the everyday (Philippians 4:4).
I asked God to spare me from pain. He said no, suffering is a path that brings you away from worldly cares and closer to Me (1 Peter 4:12-13). In your pain, you find solace in My presence (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and your soul learns to yearn for the eternal over the temporal (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).
I asked God to grow my soul. He said no, but I will guide you so you don’t get lost (Isaiah 30:21). Your soul expands through the labyrinth of life’s experiences, and with My light, you will navigate it all (Psalm 119:105).
I asked God for many things that I might enjoy in life. He said no, I gave you life so that you may enjoy all things. The richness of life lies not in the multitude of possessions or comforts but in embracing each moment with a heart open to wonder and a spirit grateful for the journey (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13).
I asked God to help me forgive others as He has forgiven me. He said no, for forgiveness is a gift you must choose to give (Colossians 3:13). He reminded me of the boundless grace He has shown, urging me to extend that same grace to others (Ephesians 4:32). It is in the act of forgiving, in releasing the burden of resentment, that you will truly understand the freedom and peace I offer (Matthew 6:14-15).
I asked God to help me to love others as He has loved me. He said no, for that is a journey you must embark on yourself. He provided the example through His Son, who loved unconditionally and selflessly, even unto death (John 13:34-35). It is through your trials, your empathy, and your willingness to see beyond faults that you will learn to love as I have loved you (1 John 4:7-8).
